Mini-Maker Fair - 28 & 29th July 2012 - call for makers

 Do you love making things and meeting people?  Do you enjoy sharing what you do?  Then come to the place where makers meet science and industry in the heart of the city: MOSI Maker Fair are looking for all sorts of people to create a community weekend event that brings together science, art, craft and engineering in a fun-filled tribute to the DIY spirit in everyone.

Kind of activities they are looking for but by no means exclusively:

■Textiles, Arts and Crafts – weave, felt, recycle or stitch it
■ How to cook or make interesting food
■Home Energy Monitoring

■Biology/Biotech and Chemistry Projects

The Great Turning Artful Inquiry - call for submissions

This call for submissions might be of interest...

WHO: Artists with an interest in collaborative practice and ecological and social restoration

WHAT: A global, artistic co-inquiry into the five Personal Guidelines for The Great Turning explicated by Buddhist scholar and activist Joanna Macy (www.joannamacy.net). Submissions will be curated, becoming part of book launching events and presented in both online and print formats to stimulate a widening dialogue.

WHEN: Submissions by June 1, 2012; selections announced by September 1, 2012; delivery of artwork by December 31, 2012; book launching/exhibitions throughout 2013 ending November 30, 2013.

DETAILS: This project accompanies the expected 2013 publication of the book The Great Turning, a selection of essays edited by Peter Reason and Melanie Newman; Vala Publishing Cooperative, publishers (UK). There will be a section in the book devoted to the artistic responses.
